Internazionale travel to the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi to take on Hellas Verona, looking to post a fourth consecutive win in their Serie A H2Hs.
Verona’s pursuit of the Europa League qualification has suffered a setback at the weekend, as they lost 2-0 to relegation-threatened Brescia on the road, which now means they’ve won only once in their last four Serie A outings (D1, L2). Also, the ‘Mastiffs’ have now conceded over 1.5 goals in five of their six previous league matches, with nine of the 12 goals they shipped across those clashes coming after the break. In turn, the majority (68.42%) of Hellas’ 19 Serie A away goals conceded this season came in the second half of play (13). They now face a formidable challenge of the Inter side they’ve lost to in six of their eight previous top-flight H2Hs held at this venue (D2), conceding two or more goals in the last seven.
Meanwhile, a shock 2-1 home loss to Bologna last time out that brought Inter’s four-game unbeaten run in Serie A to an end (W3, D1) has practically kicked the ‘Nerazzurri’ out of the title race, as they enter the round trailing table-toppers Juventus by 11 points. Still, the Milanese giants have been an exciting team to watch lately, considering six of their last eight league games have featured goals in both halves and over 2.5 goals in total (W4, D1, L3). And, if Antonio Conte’s men win here, they are likely to net at least two goals, given that all ten of their Serie A away triumphs this season saw them score over 1.5 goals. But, a lack of concentration in the second half could be a major influence here, as 80% (12) of the 15 league away goals Inter have shipped this term arrived after the break.
