Hellas Verona and Juventus will face off at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi this weekend in an exciting Serie A (SA) showdown that promises some fireworks.
Verona’s seven-game unbeaten SA run (W3, D4) will hardly face a tougher challenge than the one of Juventus to whom they’ve lost in all three of their previous top-flight H2Hs. But, four triumphs in their last six league home matches (D1, L1) will encourage the hosts, who can also draw inspiration from the fact they’ve lost just once in their previous four SA H2Hs held here (W1, D2). The Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi has been a venue of entertainment recently, as five of Verona’s last six SA fixtures here featured over 2.5 goals. Yet, frustratingly slow starters, the Mastiffs have shipped the opening goal (if any) in six of 11 SA home fixtures (55%), failing to bounce back in half of those affairs (W1, D2, L3).
As for the visitors, they’ve won four of their past six SA matches, losing the other two, with three of their last results (win/loss) yielding the identical 2-1 scoreline. Both of their defeats during that six-game sequence came away from home and saw Juventus score one goal apiece and concede precisely two beyond the hour mark. Indeed, their zoning out after the break has seen 64% (seven) of the Turin giants’ 11 away goals conceded arriving in the second half. Even though the Bianconeri have won seven of 11 SA road trips this term (D2, L2), the vast majority of them were hard-fought (6), coming via a single-goal margin. The both-teams-score prospect is on the cards definitely, as eight of Juventus’ last nine SA road games saw both sides on the scoresheet.
