Internazionale will be looking to post a fifth straight Serie A win over arch-rivals AC Milan when the 226th Derby della Madonnina kicks-off at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza this weekend.
A 1-1 away draw with Lazio last time out did bring Inter’s two-game winning Serie A start to an end, as it also means each of their opening three league matches produced goals in both halves and saw both teams on the scoresheet. Curiously, victories over Fiorentina and Benevento both witnessed the adversaries score in both halves, with the ‘Nerazzurri’ netting over 3.5 total goals apiece. Antonio Conte’s men have, however, failed to keep a clean sheet in 72.73% (eight) of their 11 Serie A home outings this calendar year, conceding 2+ match goals on four of those occasions. Yet, their ability to bounce back after falling behind has seen Inter win three of their previous four home league games in which they conceded first, last season included (W3, D1).
Meanwhile, the visitors have got off to a flying Serie A start, picking up three multi-goal wins without reply. Notably, the ‘Rossoneri’ did manage to get on the scoresheet inside the opening 15 minutes of the second half in all three league matches so far. In fact, Stefano Pioli’s men have turned into a force to be reckoned with post lockdown, securing 12 wins from 15 Serie A fixtures (D3), 11 of which arrived via at least a two-goal margin. Across that same run of matches, Milan fired in over 1.5 goals in all seven top-flight trips, scoring the opening goal in five (W5, D2). However, they are winless in nine Serie A H2Hs as visitors (D3, L6), despite netting 2+ match goals in three of their last four such contests.
