Koln and Fortuna Dusseldorf will face off at the RheinEnergieStadion in the bottom-half-of-the-table clash.
The home side have endured a dip in form, going from three straight Bundesliga (BL) defeats to two consecutive league games without a victory (D1, L1). All five of those matches during that period have produced over 2.5 goals, with the last three seeing both sides on the scoresheet, too. Alexander Wehrle’s men have been quite impressive at home since the turn of the year, losing just once in five BL home outings since the calendar flipped (W3, D1). Notably, all three of Koln’s BL home wins in 2020 have seen them score over 2.5 goals, with each yielding a multiple-goal margin. They seem likely to maintain that form here, as they face a side they’ve not lost to in each of their last six competitive H2Hs held at this stadium (W3, D3).
Meanwhile, the visitors travel to the RheinEnergieStadion on a run of four consecutive league games without a loss (W1, D3), with three of those matches featuring under 2.5 goals. Extending that run would require Dusseldorf to prevent Koln from finding the opening goal, considering they managed just three points from seven BL away fixtures in which they’ve conceded the opener (D3, L4). Curiously, Dusseldorf’s away action usually sparks into life after the halftime break, with 65.85% (27) of their total 41 BL away goals (scored/conceded) coming in the second half of play.
