Lazio and Internazionale go head-to-head at the Stadio Olimpico in a massive Serie A (SA) showdown that sees the two sides battling it out for the top place.
The hosts are unbeaten in 18 consecutive league matches (W14, D4), with their last SA defeat dating back to late September when they succumbed 1-0 to Inter precisely. Impressively, 12 of Lazio’s 14 wins during the abovementioned run saw them score over 1.5 goals, with eight yielding a margin of multiple goals. Additionally, the Biancocelesti are one of two sides yet to taste home defeat so far this season (W9, D3), with eight of their nine SA home triumphs producing a multiple-goal margin. Indeed, no team has scored more home goals than Lazio (35) and conceded fewer (nine). Even though six of the nine goals conceded at this venue came in the first half, Simone Inzaghi’s men have still found the opening goal (if any) in eight of 12 SA home fixtures (67%).
In the meantime, after playing out three identical 1-1 SA draws, the visitors have secured back-to-back league wins, both of which have yielded a two-goal margin. But, with just one point separating them from Juventus and Lazio, the Nerazzurri have to win here to retain the top spot. Considering they’ve picked up four victories in their last five top-flight trips to Rome (L1), Antonio Conte’s players seem more than capable of doing it. Furthermore, Inter remain by far the best away side in Italy’s top tier and the only one yet to lose on the road (W9, D2). Quick-start Nerazzurri have opened the scoring in ten of 11 SA road trips so far (91%), with five of their nine away wins producing a multiple-goal margin.
