Leicester City will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League this weekend, although high-flying Aston Villa arrive at the King Power Stadium.
The ‘Foxes’ go into this encounter on the back of a disastrous 3-0 home defeat to West Ham United, which hampered their three-game winning Premier League start. Notably, though, each of Leicester’s top-flight triumphs this season came via at least a two-goal margin, with Brendan Rodgers’ men netting an average of 4.00 goals across those meetings. In turn, they run out multi-goal winners in both of their league H2Hs back in 2019/20, scoring precisely four goals apiece. Significantly, the hosts often put their foot on the gas after the half-time break, registering a clear majority (83.33%) of their Premier League goals scored so far in the second half of play (10/12). But, it’s worth noting that 41.67% (five) of those 12 goals scored arrived from the spot-kick.
As for the visitors, they are enjoying a stellar start to the season, having won each of their opening three Premier League fixtures, including a 7-2 thrashing of Liverpool last time out. Quick out of the blocks, the ‘Lions’ have found the opening goal in the 4th minute of play in both of their previous two league outings, adding at least one more goal before half-time in each. Aston Villa’s perfect start is, however, in jeopardy now, given that they take on a side they’ve lost to in all of their last three away top-flight H2Hs, two of which saw them fail to get on the scoresheet. Yet, Dean Smith’s men are unbeaten in five consecutive road trips across all competitions (W3, D2), scoring over 2.5 goals in the last three.
