Levante and Athletic Club will face off against each other at the Estadi Olimpic Camilo Cano in a potentially high-scoring La Liga affair. Indeed, all six of their previous top-flight H2Hs have featured goals in both halves and over 2.5 goals in total.
The hosts enter the round on a run of three La Liga games without a win (D2, L1), two of which saw them draw a blank, as they remain the only side from the upper half of the table yet to smash a 40-goal barrier. Indeed, a genuine lack of firepower up front has seen Levante score one goal or less in ten of their last 12 La Liga fixtures, which has been true in 52.94% of their league home matches this season (9/17). But, the ‘Frogs’ may improve that record now, as they’ve found the net in all six of their previous top-flight H2Hs (W2, D1, L3), netting over 1.5 goals on three of those occasions.
Meanwhile, the visitors have endured mixed fortunes since the league’s restart in June (W3, D1, L3), with four of those six results (win/loss) seeing the winner on the day keep a clean sheet. Against this backdrop, six of Athletic’s last eight La Liga away games have seen both teams score (W2, D3, L3), which has also been the case in four of their six previous top-flight trips to Levante (W3, D1, L2). But, it could be devastating for the traveling side if they concede the opening goal here, as they lost all five of their league trips in which they’ve shipped the opener. An encouragement for Los Leones could be the fact they’ve opened the scoring inside the first 15 minutes of play in three of their last four league trips (W2, D1, L1).
