Liverpool vs Chelsea 26/11/2017
Believe it or not. Since Jurgen Klopp was appointed manager, Liverpool have won the most points in head-to-head matches between the “Big Six” sides in the Premier League. That’s 37 points in 22 matches, six more points than Chelsea.
This piece of stat probably pales in comparison to what former Chelsea player Mohamed Salah is cooking up now. The Egyptian wing wonder has netted nine EPL goals this term; the most by any Liverpool player in their first 12 appearances in the competition.
With Man City threatening to run away with the league title, defeat for either side could see them bow out of the race. Chelsea trail City by 9 points, while Liverpool are three points further back.
Both teams had contrasting fortunes in midweek Champions League action. Liverpool went three goals up in Seville, but conceded three in the second half, setting up a tense final group game against Spartak Moscow.
Klopp could be without Emre Can, though Joel Matip and Adam Lallana will be considered for selection after engaging in a full training session on Thursday.
Lallana is yet to play this entire season after picking up a thigh injury during the pre-season.
Michy Batshuayi remains doubtful for Chelsea’s match on Saturday after suffering an ankle injury while away with the Belgium national team.
Charly Musonda and Kenedy could also be out with minor injuries but Victor Moses is expected to return from a grade three hamstring tear to face his former club.
