Liverpool vs Huddersfield 28/10/2017
Jurgen Klopp and David Wagner are the best of friends, going way back to the early 1990s when they competed as professional footballers, but that friendship will be put aside when Liverpool entertain Huddersfield. Saturday’s fixture will be the first league meeting between the sides since February 1972, in which the Reds recorded a 1-0 victory.
The Reds are coming off a woeful 4-1 thrashing by Tottenham, and have registered just two wins from their previous 10 games in all competitions. The Terriers, meanwhile, shocked Man Utd 2-1. They are aiming to become the first newly promoted side to beat both Liverpool and Man Utd in the same EPL season. The win over United was also their first in seven EPL outings.
Liverpool have a steady record against newbies, losing just once of their last 42 Premier League home games against them, losing 1-2 vs Blackpool in October 2010 (W32 D9 L1).
Huddersfield will be without midfielder Philip Billing for three months after an ankle surgery. Jon Gorenc Stankovic, Michael Hefele and Kasey Palmer are also unavailable. As for Liverpool, they are still missing their driving force, Sadio Mane that is. Adam Lallana, though, is still days away from a return.
