A magical performance by Liverpool attacking trident and a sloppy defensive display by Manchester City defenders have highlighted the first thirty minutes of the Champions League quarter-finals first leg comfortably won by the Merseysiders with a 3-goal margin. Referee’s decision to disallow Gabriel Jesus’ goal in the second-half has made things extremely difficult for the Citizens, who will have to be at their very best if they’re looking to repeat Barcelona’s miracle comeback against Paris Saint-Germain last season. City have suffered an awful 3-2 defeat to Manchester United which postponed their Premier League title celebration, and it’s quite frustrating for Guardiola’s side, especially considering the fact they’ve had a 2-goal advantage at the half-time. Meanwhile, the Reds played out a dull 0-0 draw at Goodison Park against Everton, as Klopp decided to give some rest to some of his key players including Roberto Firmino, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alexander-Arnold, and Mohamed Salah, who has a minor groin injury.

Benjamin Mendy is still out due to a severe cruciate ligament injury, but Guardiola is delighted to see Sergio Aguero back to full fitness after missing the first leg with Liverpool. Ádám Bogdán, Joe Gomez, Emre Can, and Joel Matip are all set to miss the encounter, while the Egyptian wizard should be in the team for the visitors.
