Led by the new manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United hammered Cardiff City on the road last weekend, securing an outstanding 5-1 victory.
For the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club, the Red Devils have scored five goals in a Premier League game, and it was also the first time this season they’ve notched more than two goals per match on the road this term. Still, their defensive frailties have seen Man Utd failing to keep a clean sheet in their six consecutive competitive outing, while it was also the 16th time this season David de Gea conceded a goal in a Premier League game. Only five teams allowed more goals than Manchester United (30) this season, but Solskjaer’s men conceded more than any other side in the upper half of the table. Unbeaten in their last six home league meetings, the Red Devils now go in search of their first back-to-back home Premier League triumphs this season.
On the other hand, the visitors come into this encounter after a disastrous 3-1 home loss to Southampton as they desperately want to end a five-game league losing streak. Rooted deep in the relegation zone, the Terriers have the joint-worst Premier League record of 12 defeats after 18 league outings, having won just two times so far. What’s more, David Wagner’s men have lost five out of eight road encounters this campaign, keeping a clean sheet just once in the process. Also, Huddersfield’s immense problems in the final third have seen them score more than one goal per match on one occasion this season, as they’ve failed to hit the back of the net eight times in the Premier League so far.
