Marseille vs PSG 23/10/2017
Le Classique is France’s biggest football derby, and a high-scoring encounter is in store when PSG travel to Marseille. Now coached by former Roma head coach Rudi Garcia, Marseille are starting to pick up some form, having won three of their last four Ligue 1 matches. They also produced a 2-1 comeback win over Vitoria de Guimaraes in the Europa League on Thursday.
Of course, we all know what PSG are capable of. They have won all but of their 13 matches in all competitions, plundering 43 goals in the process. Some might say it is early days yet, but already the Parisians have opened up a six-point lead at the top ahead of this showdown.
Marseille have scored seven in their last two league outings and Garcia’s side will feel that, backed by a strong home crowd, they will be more than capable of matching up to the Parisians. They will have to do it without Luiz Gustavo though. The midfielder is out after picking up a red card in the 3-3 draw against Strasbourg. Over at the PSG camp, captain Thiago Silva will continue to sit out due to injury.
