Napoli vs Inter Milan 22/10/2017
The last time Inter won at San Paolo, Diego Maradona has only just retired from football. That was in 1997. The 2-0 win since has been followed by a sequence of three draws and eight defeats.
Inter are at full strength, and there’s no prizes for guessing who they will be relying on. That’s Mauro Icardi, who this season has a conversion rate of 85%, compared to 68% from Napoli’s Dries Mertens.
Icardi’s high numbers, of course, can be attributed to the fact that he grabbed a hat-trick in the 3-2 Milan derby win last weekend, including a last-gasp penalty.
Napoli are racing to have Lorenzo Insigne fit for this game, but he is in serious doubt for the top of the table clash. Napoli have won all eight of their Serie A matches so far, with seven of the wins seeing them score at least three goals each!
Keep an eye out for a possible piece of history-making. Napoli captain Marek Hamsik needs one more goal to match Diego Maradona’s scoring record at this club, all 115 goals of it.
