Led by the new manager Rudi Garcia, Olympique Lyonnais will try to return to winning ways in Ligue 1 (L1) when they take on Dijon at the Groupama Stadium this weekend.
A dreadful seven-game L1 winless run has seen Lyon dismiss the head coach Sylvinho during the international break and appoint Rudi Garcia as his successor (D3, L4). Curiously, while all three of those draws witnessed both teams score, each of Lyon’s four defeats during that period has ended with the identical 1-0 scoreline. After a 6-0 demolition of Angers in the curtain-raiser, Les Gones have scored just one goal in the subsequent three L1 home outings, conceding precisely one goal per match in each of those games (D1, L2). Another potential worry for the hosts is that they have failed to beat Dijon in both of their previous home H2Hs (D1, L1), conceding exactly three goals per match over those clashes.
The visitors have, meanwhile, headed to the international window on a run of three straight league matches without a loss (W2, D1). Having tightened up their defense, Les Moutardes have conceded just one goal during that run, scoring over 1.5 match goals only once though. Also, a 2-1 away victory over Reims has seen Dijon bring a six-game L1 losing streak on the road to a halt, and walking away from the Groupama Stadium with three points would see Dijon secure back-to-back away league wins for the first time since joining the top-flight in 2016/17. Arguably one of the worst away sides in the L1, Les Rouges have lost 16 of their last 23 league trips (W4, D3), failing to keep a blank sheet in 20 L1 away games in a row.
