Olympique Lyonnais and Saint Etienne are set to face-off against each other at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, as both sides search for a positive outcome that should see them keeping up the pace with Montpellier and Lille in the Champions League promotion battle.
Sitting 4th in the table with a record of seven wins, three draws, and three defeats, Les Gones are one of the favorites to secure the Champions League spot along with PSG, Marseille, and Lille. In the previous four Ligue 1 clashes, Bruno Genesio’s players have clinched three wins, playing out a 1-1 draw with Bordeaux in the process. With 23 goals bagged so far, Lyon have the second-best goalscoring record in the French top flight, behind Paris Saint-Germain. The Kids score an average of 1.77 goals per match, having notched a brace eight times so far. Meanwhile, they concede an average of 1.23 goals per game, as they’ve kept a clean sheet in four out of seven home encounters.
On the other hand, although they’ve had low expectations before the start of the season, the Saints are currently residing 5th in the table, trailing to Champions League promotion zone by one point. Saint Etienne concede an average of 1.31 goals per match, while they score an average of 1.46, having struggled to find the back of the net three times so far.
