Out-of-sorts Olympique Lyonnais will have a massive opportunity to post their second successive Ligue 1 (L1) triumph for the first time since early November when they take on dead-last Toulouse at the Groupama Stadium this weekend.
Backed by the Coupe de la Ligue success against Lille during the midweek, the hosts will be looking to maintain momentum and extend their winning L1 home streak over Toulouse to six straight matches. Notably, all five of their previous victories in such H2Hs have seen Lyon beat the visitors via a multiple-goal margin, with four of them witnessing the home side keep a clean sheet. But, Les Gones have lost both of their last L1 have games via identical 1-0 scorelines, as just two teams have picked up fewer home points than Lyon so far this campaign (11). Indeed, only 37% of Lyon’s total L1 points have come at the Groupama Stadium, with each of their four league home failures arriving via the exact 1-0 score.
Meanwhile, the visitors travel to Lyon on a run of six consecutive away defeats in all competitions, with half of those defeats coming by a three-goal margin. Furthermore, they’ve lost all nine of their previous L1 fixtures, scoring one goal or less on six of those occasions. Toulouse are one of just two L1 sides that have yet to pull off a single away win this term (D3, L7), and they are unlikely to kick-start their away campaign now. In fact, Les Violets have lost nine of their last ten top-flight H2Hs with Lyon (D1), conceding over 1.5 goals in each of those clashes while drawing a blank in three.
