Pohang Steelers will be looking to post a fifth consecutive home win over Seongnam in the K League 1 H2Hs when the two clubs meet at the Pohang Steel Yard this weekend.
The hosts are not enjoying the best of times, having failed to pick up a win in five league matches (D2, L3), four of which saw both teams score. Additionally, all three of their previous K League 1 home fixtures have yielded the identical 1-1 scoreline, with Pohang conceding the opening goal in each. But, a genuine lack of firepower up front has seen ‘Steelers’ net under 1.5 goals in six of their last seven home league outings, which has been true in four of their previous top-flight H2Hs held at this venue (W4, D1). Agonizingly slow starts have seen their first eight K League 1 home games witness just one goal arrive in the opening 15 minutes of play.
Meanwhile, the visitors have failed to meet the expectations lately, pulling off just one win in their last five league outings (D2, L2). Moreover, they’ve lost all three of their previous top-flight H2Hs against Pohang without scoring once. A lack of goals could be troubling ‘Magpies’ here too, considering they’ve bagged under 1.5 goals in five of their last six K League 1 outings (W2, D2, L2). Seongnam’s away games have been notably tight this season, as seven of eight have featured under 2.5 goals, with four yielding the identical 0-0 half-time score.
