High-flying RB Leipzig welcome an unpredictable TSG Hoffenheim side to the Red Bull Arena looking to stretch their unbeaten home streak in the Bundesliga (BL) to four successive games (W2, D1).
Six victories in their last seven matches in all competitions (W6, D1) most certainly boost the hosts’ confidence ahead of this encounter. Four consecutive league wins have propelled Leipzig to the second in the table, as they now trail table-toppers Borussia Monchengladbach by a single point. The deadliest BL attack so far with 36 goals scored, Julian Nagelsmann’s men have hit free-scoring form recently, in seven successive competitive games. They will now try to take advantage of this purple patch to end Hoffenheim’s two-game unbeaten BL streak at this venue (W1, D1). A potential worry for the home fans could be that Leipzig kept just one clean sheet in six BL home outings this season, although conceding over 1.5 match goals only once.
Meanwhile, the hosts have gone from five consecutive BL triumphs to two straight games without a win (D1, L1), with five of those matches featuring at least three goals. Impressively, ‘Die Kraichgauer’ are unbeaten in each of their previous five BL road trips, winning the last three (W3, D2). All of those successes have seen Hoffenheim score two or more goals and concede at least one. Alfred Schreuder heavily relies on a rock-solid defense that has allowed just six away goals this season to – league’s third-best defensive record. But, it will take something special to prevent Leipzig from scoring, given that Hoffenheim lost two of their last three competitive H2Hs with the Red Bulls (D1, L2), conceding precisely two goals per match in both of those defeats.
