The two sides that have had identical returns from their last two La Liga matches (W1, L1) go head-to-head at the Estadio Benito Villamarín as Real Betis take on Real Sociedad.
Betis’ tendency to go all-out has contributed to the fact that none of their opening five La Liga games has ended in a draw (W3, L2). The ‘clean-sheet’ theme has been quite significant in the context of those outcomes (wins/losses), as four of five saw the losing side fail to get on the scoresheet. Notably, though, both of the hosts’ home league goals scored so far arrived in the first half of play, which was the case in their last season’s top-flight H2H held at this venue (3-0 win). At the other end of the pitch, Manuel Pellegrini’s men have shown two faces lately, conceding over 1.5 goals in four of their previous seven La Liga home matches while keeping a clean sheet in the other three, last season included.
Meanwhile, the same could be said for the visitors, but in the context of their attacking game. Indeed, they netted precisely three goals per match in two of their previous four La Liga outings, drawing a blank in the remaining two (W2, D1, L1). Yet, if ‘La Real’ get on the scoresheet here, they are likely to do it after the half-time break, as six of their seven league goals scored so far arrived in the second half of play, five of which came on or after the 60-minute mark. It’s also worth noting that Real Sociedad’s rock-solid backline has conceded just twice so far this term and is yet to let in a goal inside the opening half an hour of play.
