Real Madrid and Arsenal go head-to-head at the FedEx Field in Landover in the 2019 International Champions Cup, which will be the first H2H meeting between these two sides after 11 years. Interestingly, Los Merengues have failed to beat the Gunners in all three of their previous H2Hs (D1, L2), with all of those clashes featuring under 1.5 goals.
Real’s struggling for form in the final stage of the 2018-19 campaign has stretched to their pre-season, as they’ve suffered a disappointing 3-1 loss to Bayern Munich in their first summer friendly. Los Blancos have now won just one of their last six matches (W1, D1, L4), with Zinedine Zidane’s men netting one goal or less on five occasions in that period. What’s more, La Liga giants have conceded over 1.5 goals per match in their last four outings, allowing precisely two goals in the second half three times along the way.
Meanwhile, the Gunners have been impeccable in the International Champions Cup so far, pulling off two wins in as many games. After a 2-1 win over Bayern Munich, the North Londoners have swept Fiorentina aside with a 3-0 win, stretching their unbeaten run to four games (W3, D1). Unai Emery’s players have hit a free-scoring form lately, having found the net in nine straight games, scoring 2+ match goals seven times in the process. But, Arsenal have been dealing with the immense defensive problems recently, having failed to keep a clean sheet on seven occasions across the same period.
