Real Madrid will be looking to maintain an unbeaten start to their 2020/21 La Liga campaign when they meet Cadiz at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano.
The hosts have racked up three consecutive wins following a goalless away draw with Real Sociedad in their La Liga curtain-raiser, as they top the table ahead of the kick-off. Yet, ‘Los Blancos’ have struggled to impose dominance at the beginning of the season, as two of their three league victories yielded a single-goal margin, with the deciding goal in both coming beyond the 60-minute mark. An encounter with Cadiz could serve the cause, though, considering Real Madrid have won all four of their previous competitive H2Hs, three via the identical 3-1 scoreline. Furthermore, going back to 1989, the reigning champions have sealed four triumphs from five top-flight H2Hs held in the capital (D1), scoring an average of 3.00 goals across those successes.
Meanwhile, the visitors have endured mixed fortunes at the beginning of the season (W2, D1, L2), with three of those results (wins/losses) coming via a two-goal margin. Notably, though, both of Cadiz’s top-flight wins this term arrived away from home and saw the visitors preserve a blank sheet. It looks like a long shot, but if ‘El Submarino Amarillo’ manage to get on the scoresheet here, they are likely to do it post half-time, as four of their five La Liga goals scored thus far came in the second half of play. Bringing their away record from the final stage of the last season into the equation, five of Cadiz’s previous six competitive away matches have featured under 2.5 goals.
