Thursday’s Copa del Rey fourth round second leg clash at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu between Real Madrid and Melilla will see the hosts looking to seal their place in the round of 16 following a 4-0 road victory in the first leg.
Ever since Santiago Solari took charge of the team, Los Blancos have registered six wins in seven competitive meetings, losing only to Eibar in the run. Even more, Los Merengues have kept a clean sheet five times in the last seven games across all competitions while scoring a minimum of two goals per match six times in the process. The reigning European champions have also secured three straight victories at home, including a 2-0 triumph over Valencia last weekend. The only time Real Madrid conceded more than one goal per game at home this term was against Levante and it was their only home defeat since the start of the season.
As for the visitors, they are going through a promising period, having racked up an encouraging five-game winning run in Segunda División B – Group 4. What’s more, Luis Carrion’s players have kept a clean sheet four times in those five triumphs, conceding just one goal to Sevilla B in the process. Melilla are unbeaten in their last five road trips, in which they haven’t conceded a single goal. Moreover, their previous three away victories have seen them defeating their opponents with the identical 1-0 scoreline. However, in spite of their impressive form, the visitors are huge underdogs in this encounter, and it seems almost impossible for them to leave Santiago Bernabeu with a clean sheet.
