Roma will welcome Bologna to the Stadio Olimpico this week looking to extend their winning run in Serie A (SA) H2Hs to three games.
Three consecutive matches in all competitions without a win (D1, L2) mark a decline in form for Roma after the hosts had secured back-to-back wins prior. Particularly ponderous in defense in the first 45 minutes, the ‘Giallorossi’ shipped seven of eight goals across those three fixtures before the break. Moreover, Paulo Fonseca’s men have won just one of their last five competitive home games (W1, D2, L2), conceding over 1.5 goals on three of those occasions. However, Roma can put their recent crisis to bed here, given that they’ve picked up four triumphs in their previous five top-flight home H2Hs with Bologna (L1), scoring two goals or more in three of those successes.
The visitors have overseen an upturn in results lately, going from three straight league matches without a win (D1, L2) to two consecutive victories – both of which have seen them score over 1.5 goals and concede precisely one per game. But, they’ve endured mixed fortunes in their last eight SA trips, losing five of them while winning the other three. Importantly, 75% of those results (win/loss) in that eight-game sequence have yielded a narrow one-goal margin, with three of them seeing the winner on the day come from behind the seal three points. Still, Bologna’s recent road trips have seen plenty of action, with six of their last seven league away matches featuring over 2.5 goals and seeing both teams on the scoresheet.
