Aberdeen will be looking to bring a three-game winless streak in the Premiership H2Hs with St Johnstone when the two sides meet at McDiarmid Park this week.
The hosts have picked up a little bit of everything in the opening three league fixtures (W1, D1, L1), with the last two of those matches producing over 2.5 goals. All three of St Johnstone’s Premiership goals scored this term arrived in the second half of play, two of which came no earlier than the 80-minute mark. Although this is only their first top-flight home match this season, the ‘Saints’ can draw inspiration from a solid home form in 2020. Indeed, Callum Davidson’s men have suffered just one defeat in six Premiership matches on home turf since the calendar flipped (W3, D2), scoring over 1.5 goals on four of those occasions.
Meanwhile, a 1-0 home loss to Rangers on the opening matchday of the season has been Aberdeen’s only competitive fixture in the new campaign. After seeing both of their previous league matches postponed due to the coronavirus concerns, the visitors will be looking to return to winning ways. Derek McInnes’ players have avoided defeat in all six of their competitive trips this calendar year (W2, D4), keeping a clean sheet in three. In turn, the ‘Dandies’ have not lost to St Johnstone in six consecutive top-flight H2Hs held at this venue (W3, D3), restricting their hosts to a maximum of one goal per match in each.
