St Mirren and Ross County go head-to-head at The Simple Digital Arena for a Premiership affair that promises some fireworks. All six of their previous top-flight H2Hs have produced over 2.5 goals, with five seeing both teams score.
A narrow 1-0 away win over Hamilton last time out now means all three of St Mirren’s opening Premiership fixtures have seen the winner on the day keep a blank sheet (W2, L1). Curiously, each of those matches has seen the deadlock broken inside the opening half an hour. Low scoring has been a theme for the hosts this calendar year, as all but one of their eight competitive home games in 2020 have featured under 2.5 goals. The ‘clean sheet’ theme remains equally important, as all four of their results (wins/losses) during that eight-game sequence witnessed the winner on the day shut out the loser (W3, L1).
Meanwhile, the visitors have slowed down a bit after a blistering start to the season, going from back-to-back triumphs to two consecutive matches without a win (D1, L1). All four of Ross County’s opening Premiership fixtures have been notably tight, separating the sides at full-time by a margin no greater than one goal. Yet, quick out of the blocks, the ‘Staggies’ have netted three of their five league goals inside the first 30 minutes of play. Interestingly, none of their eight competitive trips this calendar year has ended in a stalemate (W2, L6), with five of those results seeing the winner on the day preserve a clean sheet.
