Stuttgart vs Bayern Munich 16/12/2017
After a fine start to the season, Stuttgart’s wheels are beginning to fall apart. Defeat to Bayer Leverkusen last weekend marked their first at home in 2017. That was followed by a narrow loss in Hoffenheim, marking their first three-game losing streak under Hannes Wolf.
And the worst bit is that they are up against the reigning champions, whom they have lost all of the last 15 competitive meetings. They last won in March 2010, a 2-1 at the Allianz Arena. Their last home win over Bayern was over ten years ago, a 3-1.
Bayern are on autopilot mode and will need to take note that their last Bundesliga defeat in a calendar year goes way back to 1984.
Sven Ulreich could be back to man the sticks for Bayern after returning to training on Thursday, while Mats Hummels and Joshua Kimmich – both substitutes in a 1-0 win against Cologne on Wednesday – could also feature.
Stuttgart are without Anastasios Donis after the Greek striker had only just returned from injury. Chadrac Akolo, who was injured in the first half, is expected to be fit. Simon Terodde could star as a lone striker against the league leaders.
