After a vital 1-0 home win over Manchester City in the Champions League, Tottenham Hotspur welcome dead-last Huddersfield Town to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, looking to stretch their winning run at the new venue to three games.
A comfortable 2-0 home triumph over Crystal Palace last time out has brought Tottenham’s disastrous four-game PL winless streak to an end (D1, L4), as they currenlty sit fourth with a one-point lead over fifth-placed Arsenal. With Harry Kane set to skip the match due to injury, Spurs’ problems in the final third can get from bad to worse, as they’ve scored one goal or less in seven of their previous eight clashes across all competitions. But, Maurizio Pochettino’s men are unbeaten in their last seven competitive home outings (W6, D1), scoring 2+ match goals four times while keeping four clean sheets in the process.
Meanwhile, the visitors are one of two teams that have already brought their tickets to Championship after a disappointing campaign that has seen them pick up just three wins in 33 league fixtures (W3, D5, L25). Huddersfield’s tally of 63 goals conceded is the league’s second-worst, with Jan Siewert’s players allowing over 1.5 goals per match in seven of their last nine PL outings. What’s more, the Terriers have failed to preserve a clean slate in 14 of 16 PL road meetings, conceding 15 goals in four away H2Hs with the PL’s top-six teams. Another frustrating fact for the traveling side is their goalscoring road record, as they’ve netted just 11 goals away from home this campaign, failing to find the net eight times in 16 away encounters.
