Tottenham Hotspur vs Real Madrid 02/11/2017
Both teams tripped up in league action over the weekend, but can atone for it with a win at Wembley. In fact, the winners here will clinch their golden tickets to the knockout stage with victory at England’s national stadium. It ended one apiece on Matchday 3 in Spain.
Real Madrid, who were shocked 2-1 by newcomers Girona on Sunday, have a fine record against Spurs, winning both of their trips to the demolished White Hart Lane by a 1-0 scoreline.
A reaction at this iconic stadium is much-needed for the reigning two-time current champions, but it looks like Gareth Bale might miss out on a reunion with his former team. Zinedine Zidane is likely to shuffle the pack, with Nacho and Marco Asensio set to be recalled to the line-up. Goalkeeper Keylor Navas remains a doubt after missing the last three matches.
As for Spurs, Harry Kane will be given every chance of proving his fitness, but it looks like Mauricio Pochettino will not take any risks given that they still have a relatively comfortable lead in the group.
Spurs lost 3-2 to West Ham in English League cup action, and that was swiftly followed by a poor 1-0 loss at Manchester United. A third defeat in a week looks inconceivable for a side that had proven to be tough to crack!
