The United States welcome Costa Rica to the Dignity Health Sports Park in an international friendly meeting.
The hosts have picked up four wins in their last five outings (D1, L1), netting over 3.5 goals in each of those successes while scoring one or less in both of those failures. Also, the Yanks have endured mixed fortunes in their past six H2H meetings with Costa Rica (W3, L3), with each of those results (win/loss) seeing the winner on the day keep a clean sheet. In turn, the USMNT have lost three of their last four home matches where they’ve shipped the opener (D1), failing to break their rivals in all of those defeats.
Meanwhile, the visitors have registered just one victory in their previous seven fixtures (D4, L2), with six of those games seeing both teams score. Costa Rica’s efforts to beat the USA here will depend on whether they can score two goals or not. Indeed, all three of their away wins over the past year and a half have seen them score over 1.5 goals and concede at least one, with two of those successes yielding the identical 3-2 scoreline. On the contrary, three of their four defeats in the same period have seen them draw a blank.
