Valencia vs Getafe 19/04/18
Last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Barcelona at Camp Nou ended Valencia’s 9-game unbeaten streak, but the Bats have cemented the fourth place and the Champions League football for the next season, as they are set to face Getafe at Mestalla looking to start off a new winning spree. The Deep Blues have found extremely challenging collecting points on the road this season, as they’ve lost seven out of fifteen games away from home, three in the last five matches, in which they’ve conceded seven goals, and playing against a team who have five consecutive victories at home won’t make things any easier for José Bordalás’ side. Two teams faced each other in La Liga back in December, with Getafe beating the Oranges by one goal to nil at Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, but considering Valencia’s performance over the last couple of months, the scenario might be different now.
Francis Coquelin is sidelined by the rest of the season with an Achilles tendon injury, but the absence of two crucial first-team players, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Gabriel Paulista, because of suspension, gives Marcelino García a sizeable headache. As for the visitors, Mauro Arambarri is ruled out with a metatarsal injury, while Ángel Rodríguez and Mathieu Flamini won’t be traveling with the team due to suspension.
