Weekend’s Premier League (PL) action concludes at the Molineux Stadium where Wolverhampton Wanderers tackle Burnley.
Although winless after the opening two rounds of PL fixtures (D2), the hosts go into this clash off the back of a 3-2 away win over Torino in the Europa League playoffs. Having stretched their unbeaten run across all competitions to seven games (W5, D2), Wolves now seek their third consecutive PL home win over Burnley – both of their previous have seen them beat the Clarets to nil. A very few PL sides can boast such an impressive home record since February 2019 as Wolverhampton (W6, D3). While three of those stalemates produced under 2.5 goals, five of their wins in that span have seen the Wanderers score 2+ match goals.
Meanwhile, the visitors have opened the new season with a 3-0 home win over Southampton, after which they’ve suffered a 2-1 away loss to Arsenal. As a result, the Clarets are now winless in their last three PL trips (D1, L2), conceding precisely two goals per match in each. What’s more, Sean Dyche’s men have struggled to pick up a single away win in their last nine visits to the last season’s PL top-eight teams (D2, L7). Also, just four of Burnley’s 11 PL wins last campaign have come away from home, and all four have seen them concede precisely one goal per match.
