Cadiz vs Valencia

Estadio Ramón de Carranza is the venue as Cadiz and Valencia battle it out in the wrong half of the La Liga table.

Out-of-sorts Cadiz have failed to pick up all three points in nine of their last ten La Liga fixtures (D3, L6), conceding 2+ goals in 60% of those games. Interestingly, after beating Eibar 1-0 in their last home La Liga outing, the hosts could post back-to-back top-flight wins at Ramón de Carranza for the first time since 1991. ‘Los Piratas’ have not drawn any of their previous four home league matches (W1, L3), with the last three of those results (win/loss) seeing the victor keep a clean sheet. Topically, going back to 1990, all six competitive meetings between Cadiz and Valencia at this venue have seen one or both sides fail to score in matches garnering under 2.5 total goals. Alvaro Cervera’s men have established a habit of falling behind without recovering, surrendering the points in 12 of the 16 La Liga fixtures in which they conceded first this season (D4, L12).

Meanwhile, since being held to a 1-1 draw at Athletic Club on Matchday 22, Valencia have alternated between victory (3) and reverse (3) across their subsequent six La Liga matches, with each of the last three featuring a winning/losing margin of a single goal. However, it has been a pure disaster for ‘Los Murciélagos’ away from home lately, as they’ve lost four of their last five La Liga games on the road (D1), drawing a blank in three prior to this trip. Javi Garcia’s men have shown a lack of character when being forced to fight their way back into the game this season, having crumbled in 75% of the away league matches in which they shipped the opener (GP8 – D2, L6). Furthermore, Valencia’s lackluster first-half performances have seen them fail to secure a half-time lead in any of their 14 La Liga trips this term (W0, D7, L7).
