Getafe vs Sevilla
Getafe and Sevilla go head-to-head at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez in a potentially tight, low-scoring La Liga fixture. Two of the last four league meetings between these sides here have seen Sevilla eke out the identical 1-0 wins.
Getafe’s new league season started with a whimper rather than a bang, as they succumbed to a narrow 1-0 loss to a 10-man Valencia side on Matchday 1. As a result, they have now won just two of their last 14 matches in La Liga (W2, D5, L7), frustratingly drawing a blank nine times during that sequence. Moreover, the hosts are staring at the prospect of starting a new top-flight campaign with back-to-back defeats for the third time in the club’s history, last doing so in 2015/16. Such a scenario looks plausible, with ‘El Geta’ losing both of their previous home La Liga clashes against Sevilla without scoring. But, new manager Michel, who has won five of his six managerial fixtures against Sevilla, will be looking to turn Getafe’s fortunes around this time.
On the other hand, Sevilla brushed Rayo Vallecano aside with a comprehensive 3-0 home victory on the opening weekend. They look to open a new league season with consecutive wins for the third La Liga campaign running. After winning each of their last four top-flight H2Hs ‘to nil,’ ‘Los Rojiblancos’ must be confident of snapping a run of two straight away La Liga matches without a triumph (D1, L1). Interestingly, this could be a potentially historical day for Sevilla, who have never won five straight La Liga games ‘to nil’ before. Worryingly, though, Julen Lopetegui’s men have failed to keep a clean sheet in six of their last seven top-flight trips, conceding 2+ goals on four of those occasions.
