Hellas Verona vs Napoli
Napoli will be looking to get their Serie A title bid back on track when they meet mid-table Hellas Verona at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.
After going unbeaten in their last three Serie A meetings with Napoli (W1, D2), Hellas Verona could make it four top-flight H2Hs without losing in a row for the first time since 1983. It would most definitely boost their hopes of securing a European finish, with their rock-solid four-game Serie A form (W2, D2) giving home fans plenty to look forward to here. ‘I Gialloblu’ have already amassed more points at home after 14 matches this Serie A season (26) than they had throughout the entire 2020/21 campaign. Much of the credit for Verona’s impressive domestic season belongs to their diversity, with three different players scoring 10+ goals this Serie A campaign. Alongside Napoli, Igor Tudor’s men have converted the joint-high seven penalties in Serie A this term.
Meanwhile, Napoli’s pursuit of their first Scudetto since 1989/90 took a major hit last time out as a 1-0 home defeat to fellow title rivals AC Milan undid their hard-earned 2-1 win at Lazio a fortnight ago. But ‘I Partenopei’ have been nothing short of exceptional on the road this season, having suffered just one loss from 14 away league matches so far (W9, D4). Since losing 3-2 at Inter Milan in November, Luciano Spalletti’s men have put together seven Serie A travels without losing (W4, D3), conceding under 1.5 goals six times in the process. Indeed, they boast a league joint-best defensive record on the road this term, having shipped just ten goals after 14 Serie A trips, at an average of 0.71 per game. Interestingly, none of Napoli’s last 11 Serie A visits to Verona have ended level (W7, L4).
