Levante vs Barcelona

In-form Barcelona travel to the Estadi Ciutat de Valencia to take on relegation-threatened Levante in a tasty-looking La Liga encounter.

Despite going winless in their opening 19 La Liga fixtures this season, Levante are still bidding to avoid a first La Liga relegation since 2015/16. Alessio Lisci’s side pulled off a crucial 2-0 home victory over Villarreal last time out to end a run of three league matches without winning (D1, L2) and stay within touching distance of 17th-placed Mallorca. Another home fixture comes in handy, as three of Levante’s mere four La Liga triumphs this season have come at the Estadi Ciutat de Valencia. Indeed, the ‘Granotes’ are unbeaten in their last three home league outings (W2, D1). Both wins in that three-game sequence came by 2+ goals ‘to nil.’ Following the abovementioned success against Villarreal, Levante could record back-to-back La Liga wins for the first time since July 2020.

However, Barcelona, who thumped Levante 3-0 in the reverse fixture at Camp Nou, have no intention of slowing down despite a 1-1 Europa League draw away to Eintracht Frankfurt in midweek. Xavi’s high-flyers head into proceedings amid a rich vein of form that has seen them win six successive La Liga games, including a 4-0 demolition of arch-rivals Real Madrid in their most recent away league outing. Indeed, the ‘Blaugrana’ boast the longest ongoing unbeaten league streak in Europe’s top-five leagues, having gone 14 La Liga games without losing (W10, D4) since a 1-0 home loss to Betis. After racking up three top-flight wins without conceding, Barcelona are eyeing up a fourth such triumph in a row for the first time since December 2018.
