Kyrgyzstan vs Singapore

Kyrgyzstan and Singapore are set to trade tackles at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium in Bishkek as part of the inaugural Asia Cup Qualification round.

Kyrgyzstan have suffered a noticeable dip in form in the build-up to this clash, going from three consecutive victories to three defeats on the trot, two of which came by a two-goal margin. It has been ‘all or nothing’ for the ‘White Falcons’ since their 1-1 draw with Tajikistan in a World Cup qualifier in November 2019. Indeed, none of their subsequent eight international games have ended level (W4, L4). Interestingly, 62.5% of those results (win/loss) have seen the winner on the day concede at least once, highlighting the potential for a high-scoring event. Despite their topsy-turvy form, Kyrgyzstan head into proceedings as pre-match favourites, having gone unbeaten in all three previous H2Hs (W2, D1).

On the other hand, Singapore’s underwhelming 2-0 defeat to Kuwait in an international friendly last time out arrested their two-game winning streak. Overall, it remains their solitary reverse in five internationals if considered just 90 minutes of play (W2, D2). A one-sided affair could well be on the cards here, with 13 of Singapore’s last 14 matches seeing one of the sides score 2+ goals. Adding to this sentiment, the ‘Lions’ have suffered five defeats in their last seven internationals held on foreign soil (W1, D1), conceding at least twice in six of those fixtures. They can at least take some confidence from scoring in three of their last five away games.
