Dallas vs Inter Miami

High-flying Inter Miami take a trip to Toyota Stadium to take on Dallas in their second-ever Major League Soccer meeting.

Dallas’ ferocious start to the season is fading away after an abysmal run of one victory from their last six MLS fixtures (D1, L4) contributed to their lead on eighth-placed Vancouver Whitecaps melting to a mere two points. A home encounter against Inter Miami, whom they defeated 2-1 in the only previous top-flight H2H, could be just what the doctor ordered as they aim to snap a two-game losing home league streak. Interestingly, since a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC in their inaugural MLS home match of the season, none of Dallas’ seven subsequent home league outings have ended level (W5, L2). Scoring first could make all the difference in another potential ‘winner takes all’ contest, as the ‘Burn’ have won three out of four home league matches in which they opened the scoring this term (D1).

Meanwhile, Inter Miami have developed into genuine MLS Cup playoff contenders following a poor start to the season. After racking up three victories from their last four league games (L1), they could draw level on points with seventh-placed New England Revolution with another triumph in this one. However, a morale-busting record of three defeats from their last four MLS road trips (D1) suggests this could be a tall order. Adding to this sentiment, Phil Neville’s men have netted a measly three goals across their opening seven MLS travels, at an average of 0.42 per match. In fact, they have failed to get on the scoresheet in their last four away league fixtures.
