Jeonbuk Motors vs Incheon United

Jeonbuk Motors and Incheon United are set to square off at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium in a top-half Singapore Premier League fixture.

Jeonbuk Motors have hit the ground running since a 2-0 home defeat in late May, going unbeaten in their last five K League 1 fixtures (W4, D1) to reduce the gap on table-topping Ulsan Hyundai to five points. However, the ‘Warriors’ have yet to find their feet at home this season, having won just two of their nine top-flight home matches thus far (D4, L3), including one of the last eight. Incheon’s upcoming visit to the Jeonju World Cup Stadium could help Jeonbuk improve, as they’ve won five consecutive top-flight H2Hs at this venue, including the last four without conceding. Conceding first could put a dent in those hopes, as they’ve failed to win any of their six home league games when falling behind this term (D3, L3).

As for Incheon United, Suwon’s narrow 1-0 triumph last time out halted their three-game unbeaten K League 1 streak (W1, D2), spelling trouble for their playoff hopes. With seventh-placed Daegu sitting only four points adrift, the ‘Mariners’ can ill-afford another underwhelming result if they were to stay firmly inside the playoff picture. However, Incheon’s six-game winless league run on the road (D4, L2) does not look promising. It’s also worth noting that they’ve conceded precisely two goals in four of those six road trips, casting more doubt on their capability to cope with high-flying Jeonbuk.
