Borussia Dortmund vs PSG

Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League lives are on the line as they head to Signal Iduna Park to take on already-qualified Borussia Dortmund.

Despite being given a few chances, Borussia Dortmund became the first side to progress from the Champions League ‘group of death,’ courtesy of last round’s 3-1 battering of AC Milan. Edin Terzic’s side bids to avoid defeat against PSG to finish top of the group, yet their form has spiraled into chaos since that victory at the San Siro. In addition to bowing out of the DFB-Pokal at the hands of Stuttgart (0-2), they’ve gone winless in back-to-back Bundesliga games (D1, L1), most recently suffering a 3-2 home loss to RB Leipzig. On the upside, they’ve traditionally fared well against French opponents, only losing two of their 11 previous encounters on home turf (W6, D3), including a brace of unbeaten H2Hs versus PSG (W1, D1).

On the other hand, PSG can’t afford to lose at Signal Iduna Park if they’re to avoid the humiliation of failing to make it out of the Champions League group stages for the first time in the Qatari era. Luis Enrique’s side broke the hearts of Newcastle United in the previous round as Kylian Mbappe’s 97th-minute penalty fired ‘Les Parisiens’ to second in Group F, two points clear of the ‘Magpies’ and Milan. They’ve since gone into overdrive, stitching together two Ligue 1 wins en route to taking their unbeaten run in all competitions to five matches (W4, D1). However, PSG can’t take anything for granted after a dismal streak of three straight Champions League away defeats put them at risk of losing four in a row for the first time in club history.
