Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Everton
Wolverhampton Wanderers will be looking to maintain their red-hot Premier League form when they take on Everton at Molineux this weekend.
Wolverhampton’s first-half blitz propelled them to an outstanding 4-1 victory at Brentford in midweek, making it two wins in a row following a 2-1 home triumph against Chelsea in the first Premier League fixture held on Christmas Eve. After moving ten points clear of the drop zone, Wolves have set their sights on racking up a three-game winning streak in the top flight for the first time since January 2022. Achieving that feat against Everton should be a matter of formality, considering they’ve emerged victorious in four of their last five Premier League H2Hs (D1), including a narrow 1-0 win in the reverse fixture at Goodison Park in August. Adding to Wolves’ confidence, they’re unbeaten in their last seven league outings at Molineux (W4, D3) despite only keeping one clean sheet in this run.
Meanwhile, Everton’s survival battle took another hit in midweek as they let a slender halftime lead slip through their fingers in a 3-1 home loss to Manchester City, marking their second successive league defeat. But despite November’s ten-point deduction, the ‘Toffees’ commence this round one place and one point clear of 18th-placed Luton Town, largely thanks to their four-game winning league streak at the start of December. Since each of those four wins came ‘to nil,’ closing gaps at the back is mandatory for manager Sean Dyche. He has turned Everton into one of the division’s most formidable travelers, with Everton winning four away league games on the spin before a 2-1 loss at Tottenham Hotspur last time out. Overall, they’ve only lost three of their 11 competitive games on the road this term (W7, D1).
