Denmark vs Switzerland

Parken Stadium is the venue as Denmark and Switzerland go head-to-head in their first friendly meeting in the 21st century.

Despite suffering a 2-0 defeat to Northern Ireland in their last Euro 2024 qualifier, Denmark reached the most prestigious continental tournament for the second time in a row, finishing atop their group ahead of Slovenia. However, after losing a competitive game via a multi-goal margin for the first time in two years, manager Kasper Hjulmand is hellbent on avoiding back-to-back reversals. Playing at Parken Stadium, where they’ve racked up an eye-catching 13 wins across their last 14 outings here (L1), including seven victories on the bounce ahead of this match, should be helpful. Denmark’s formidable form in Copenhagen speaks volumes and perhaps increases their chances of extending a five-game unbeaten run against Switzerland (W2, D3) dating back to 1985.

In the meantime, the visiting Swiss side secured a third consecutive Euros appearance by the skin of their teeth following an underwhelming four-game winless streak down the final stretch of their qualifying campaign (D3, L1). Though Switzerland had to settle for a runner-up finish to Romania in Group I, they achieved their primary goal, but improvement is now in order. Winless in their last three games on foreign soil (D2, L1), Murat Yakin’s team will take this trip keen to make amends for recent failures. Switzerland’s inability to see out matches after breaking the deadlock has emerged as a glaring issue after they’ve only won once in their last six outings when doing so (D5).
