Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium sets the stage for a mouth-watering Premier League showdown between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

After four consecutive defeats in which they conceded an average of 3.25 goals per game, Tottenham returned to the win column at the weekend with a late 2-1 home triumph against second-from-bottom Burnley. That result forms part of Spurs’ high-flying run of four victories across their last five home league outings (L1). High scoring has been a common theme in Tottenham’s home matches this season, with 16 out of 18 Premier League contests at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium seeing over 2.5 goals and both teams score. Against this backdrop, Manchester City’s recent top-flight visits to North London have yielded low-scoring affairs, with Ange Postecoglou’s side winning their last four home league H2Hs ‘to nil’ in matches garnering under 2.5 goals. But Spurs were on the receiving end of a hardly-contested duel in January’s FA Cup action, losing 1-0 at this venue.

On the other hand, Manchester City’s quest to win an unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title is firmly on track, even though they come into proceedings a point adrift of table-topping Arsenal. With a game in hand, Pep Guardiola’s men are in control of their title fate and will take the field in a buoyant mood after a 4-0 thumping of Fulham at the weekend. Extending an eye-catching 21-game unbeaten run (W17, D4) with a win would see Man City leapfrog Arsenal at the top, but they must defy history to make it happen. The reigning champions haven’t won their final away match across the last three Premier League campaigns (D1, L2). That said, they’ve only dropped points once across eight league travels in 2024 (W7, D1).
