Osasuna vs Barcelona

Injury-hit Barcelona will look to make history at El Sadar as they bid to extend their jaw-dropping La Liga start against Osasuna.

Despite consistency struggles during the infancy of Vicente Moreno’s managerial tenure, Osasuna stayed in touch with La Liga’s top four after a 0-0 draw against Valencia in midweek. Though it was only their second clean sheet this season, the hosts boast 11 points after seven rounds (W3, D2, L2) and will look to make it three consecutive league games unbeaten for the first time in 2024/25. However, the task is nothing short of Herculean, with ‘Los Rojillos’ facing a Barcelona side they’ve lost to across their last five league meetings. Osasuna kept most of those H2Hs competitive, succumbing to a narrow one-goal margin on four occasions. That means they won’t go down without a fight as they bid to protect their unbeaten home record this season (W3, D1).

If there’s a side capable of taking three points in Pamplona, it’s Barcelona. A hard-earned 1-0 home win against Getafe in midweek La Liga action extended Barca’s winning league start to seven matches for only the third time in the club’s storied history, testifying to Hansi Flick’s tactical ingenuity. Flick is one win away from equaling Barcelona’s best-ever La Liga start achieved 11 years ago, but he’ll have to do it without star goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Los Blaugranas kept a clean sheet in their first outing since the German suffered a long-term injury, but they’ve conceded on all five road trips this season, all competitions included. They’ve offset those issues with a remarkable scoring record, having bagged 14 goals on four La Liga travels thus far.
