Atletico Madrid vs Getafe

Atletico Madrid will be looking to put last weekend’s derby loss to Barcelona firmly behind when they meet in-form Getafe at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.

Even if they fall behind here, Atletico should have enough character to bounce back as they’ve avoided defeat in all three home league games after conceding first this term (W1, D2).

As for Getafe, an overwhelming 3-0 home triumph over basement boys Levante last time out took their unbeaten La Liga streak to three matches (W2, D1), steering them further away from the relegation zone. Curiously, ‘El Geta’ have claimed four victories in their last six La Liga outings (D1, L1), as many successes as in their previous 30 in the competition combined (W4, D11, L15). Quique Sánchez Flores’ men have scored seven goals in their last three La Liga games, which represents 35% of their total scoring tally in Spain’s top-flight this season (20). There’s a piece of history open for the taking here, as after beating Real Madrid 1-0 earlier this year, Getafe could win two consecutive Madrilean derbies in La Liga for the first time ever. However, after they’ve failed to win any of their 11 away league fixtures this season (D5, L6), that prospect looks improbable.
