Bournemouth vs Liverpool

Saturday’s Premier League action gets underway at the Vitality Stadium as Bournemouth and Liverpool go head-to-head in a lopsided contest.

Bournemouth’s hopes of securing Premier League survival have taken back-to-back blows as title-bidding Arsenal and Manchester City thrashed them by an aggregate score of 7-3 in the last two rounds, nailing them to the bottom. But with one point separating them from safety at the start of this matchday, the ‘Cherries’ are still confident about avoiding relegation, though a four-game winless league run at home (D2, L2) spells trouble. Liverpool’s visit to the Vitality Stadium won’t dole out any favors, considering they’ve lost their last seven top-flight H2Hs by an aggregate score of 28-1, including a humiliating 9-0 defeat in the reverse fixture in August. Moreover, since first losing a Premier League clash under current boss Gary O’Neil in October, they’ve lost more league matches (11) than any other side.

In the meantime, Liverpool solidified their Premier League top-four pursuit with a historic 7-0 home romping of arch-rivals Manchester United last weekend, extending their unbeaten league streak to five games (W4, D1). However, the visitors have failed to impress on the road lately, going winless in four of their last five top-flight away matches (D1, L3), and drawing a blank in three of the most recent four. But on the bright side, Jurgen Klopp’s men have kept a clean sheet on back-to-back Premier League travels after conceding in seven consecutive away league outings beforehand. Home and away, the ‘Reds’ have registered five straight shutouts in the Premier League, last enjoying a longer streak without conceding in January 2020.
