Crystal Palace vs Leicester City
The two underperforming sides will square off at Selhurst Park as Crystal Palace take on Leicester City in a bottom-half Premier League showdown.
Under-fire manager Patrick Vieira starts to feel the heat as Crystal Palace head into proceedings seeking only their second Premier League win of the season (W1, D3, L2). Palace’s last season’s goalscoring woes continue to torment the capital-based outfit this term, with the ‘Eagles’ netting an average of 1.00 goals per match, with 50% of their six Premier League goals scored to date coming in a 3-0 home thrashing of Tottenham in early September. Indeed, Vieira’s men have produced fewer shots on target (14) than any other team in England’s top-flight this season. On the bright side, though, the hosts are hard to break down at Selhurst Park, having avoided defeat in all three Premier League fixtures here (W1, D2) while conceding just a single goal in the process.
In the meantime, Leicester slumped at below-par Legia in the Europa League midweek, losing 1-0 in Poland. Juggling domestic football with their European commitments has crippled Leicester’s early momentum, with Brendan Rodgers’ side winning just one of their last six fixtures in all competitions (D2, L3). Additionally, the ‘Foxes’ are winless in three Premier League matches (D1, L2) after conceding the opener on each occasion. Topically, since keeping back-to-back clean sheets in February, the visitors haven’t managed a shutout in ten consecutive Premier League games away from home, though they’ve found the net in all of them. Leicester’s hopes of returning to winning ways in the Premier League look slim, given that they’ve lost their last three top-flight matches against London sides in the capital, as many as they had in their previous 14 such contests (W6, D5, L3).
