Crystal Palace vs Leicester City
Selhurst Park is the venue as out-of-sorts Crystal Palace and Leicester City search for their first wins of the 2024/25 Premier League season.
Despite going from strength to strength toward the end of last season, Crystal Palace have rekindled their old habits, enduring a false start to the new Premier League campaign (D1, L2). If it’s any consolation, Oliver Glasner’s side bounced back from two consecutive league defeats ‘to nil’ with a morale-boosting 1-1 draw at Chelsea on the stroke of the international break. They’ll hope to go one better against promoted Leicester City, especially considering they’ve won more Premier League games against the Foxes (9) than against any other side. The Eagles will look to refind the form that saw them string together four successive league wins at the tail-end of last season while averaging a jaw-dropping four goals per match. But after a 2-0 defeat to West Ham in round two, they’re at risk of losing two straight home league outings for the first time in 2024.
In the meantime, Leicester City went into September’s international break without a win from their opening three Premier League matches (D1, L2), including a 2-1 defeat at Fulham on their only league travel this season. Leicester’s only on-field success in 2024/25 came in the League Cup as they humbled lower-league Tranmere Rovers 4-0. However, they’ve achieved a massive off-field triumph, avoiding punishment for breaching the Premier League’s financial regulations. That could be a pivotal morale boost for Steve Cooper’s side ahead of their trip to Selhurst Park, where they’ve registered just one win on their last seven visits (D3, L3). On the bright side, they’ve only lost two of their nine top-flight meetings with Palace since the start of 2019 (W4, D3, L2).
