Everton vs Bournemouth

Everton’s hopes of avoiding relegation from the Premier League are at stake as out-of-form Bournemouth touch down at Goodison Park for the final game of the 2022/23 season.
Everton find themselves in a critical situation as they enter the decisive phase of their season. A win against Bournemouth would ensure their presence in the top flight for an impressive 69th consecutive season, a feat surpassed only by Arsenal in English football history. Their strong performances in the crucial last month of the campaign have allowed them to remain in command of their own fate. Their only defeat in their previous four Premier League matches came at the hands of the champions Manchester City (W1, D2). But after winning their first four Premier League meetings with Bournemouth at home, Everton lost their most recent H2H at Goodison, going down 3-1 on the final day of the 2019-20 season.

Unlike their hosts, Bournemouth’s top-flight status is not in jeopardy, even though they’ve lost their last three league outings by an aggregate score of 6-1. Back-to-back scoring blanks in the lead-up to this trip mean the ‘Cherries’ could go three consecutive Premier League matches without finding the net for the second time this season. But they find some comfort in their decent-looking away form, having won three straight away league games before suffering a 2-0 defeat at Crystal Palace on their last top-flight travel. Indeed, Gary O’Neil’s men have claimed five victories on the road this season, only amassing more away wins in a single Premier League season in 2015/16.
