Fenerbahce vs Antalyaspor

Fenerbahce and Antalyaspor are set to square off at the Fenerbahce Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in the penultimate round of the 2022/23 Turkish Super Lig season.

Fenerbahce’s hopes of ending a nine-year title duck in the Super Lig are dead in the water, as they start the penultimate round five points below arch-rivals Galatasaray despite managing three wins in their last four league outings (D1). Goals were raining down during that four-match sequence, with Jorge Jesus’ side netting precisely three in each victory. Delivering action from the get-go, they’ve opened the scoring within 25 minutes of play in four of their last five league matches, barring an awarded 3-0 win over Hatayspor. But even if they concede first, Fenerbahce should have enough character to bounce back, having won two out of three home league games after falling behind this season (L1).

Meanwhile, since a narrow 1-0 triumph at Fatih Karagumruk in late April, Antalyaspor have gone winless in their last three Super Lig fixtures (D2, L1), never scoring more than once. Goals have been in short supply for the visitors of late, as they’ve bagged under 1.5 in each of their five top-flight matches coming into this round. But they can draw some confidence from a decent four-game unbeaten league streak away from home (W1, D3), even though they largely failed to entertain the crowd in that span. Only one of those four matches featured over 2.5 goals, highlighting the potential for a drab contest. Given Antalyaspor’s poor scoring record, it comes as no surprise that they’ve won none of their 11 league games on the road in which they’ve conceded the opener (D3, L8).
