Getafe vs Cadiz

Getafe and Cadiz are set to trade tackles at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez in a bottom-half La Liga encounter.

Getafe goalkeeper David Soria came up massive to deny a late penalty and hand his side a slender 1-0 win at dead-last Elche last time out, halting their five-game wait for a La Liga victory (D3, L2). However, another season-long fight against the drop is on the cards for ‘El Geta,’ as they sit only three points clear of 18th-placed Sevilla heading into the penultimate La Liga round ahead of the World Cup break. Cadiz’s visit to the Madrid region could help Getafe win consecutive top-flight games for only the second time in 2022, considering they’ve managed five triumphs in their six competitive H2Hs on home turf (L1). It’s worth noting they’ve scored 3+ goals in each of those five triumphs, a feat they’ve yet to achieve this season.

Meanwhile, Cadiz pulled off a massive upset in the previous La Liga round, claiming a 3-2 home victory over Atletico Madrid to snap an underwhelming five-match winless league run (D4, L1). Despite picking up just two wins from the opening 12 top-flight rounds (D4, L6), the visitors are still only one point adrift of safety, so another exhausting battle for survival is very much on. Unfortunately for head coach Sergio Gonzalez, his hopes of leading Cadiz to back-to-back La Liga victories for the first time in 2022/23 are far-fetched. His men have only won once on their five league travels this season (D1, L3), netting a dismal three goals while conceding 11 in return.
